Oil scarcity
Shall not have a shop until next week, so not encountered the rationing yet.
I don't use Sunflower oil, but guess there is a knock-on effect to availability of other oils.
I do use Olive Oil.
For frying steak and suchlike, I use Rice Bran Oil: it costs a little more, but has high smoke point, and compared with alternatives, leave a pleasant aroma in kitchen.
I gather that Rape Seed Oil is plentiful available, it is widely used in Industry, but I think the non-food grades are toxic, and cannot be switched into the food chain.
Have you had to adopt alternatives to your usual choices?
When first I learned to cook, it was commonplace to fry in Butter; not a health alternative, I guess.
I know many still swear by lard or beef-dripping for chips, Yorkshires and suchlike.
Prepare for more fatburgers blocking t drains!

I Will Serve Rice
(apologies to Gloria Gaynor)
The fish, it was a fraud
It was partially fried.
Passed off as fresh home made
But, of course I lied
And I would have made some chips,
I cut potatoes into strips
But no oil could I find
Oh what a bind
So that wer that
I’ve got no fat
I threw them out
Which is how there came about
This crazy mixed-up cuisine,
Not the meal it should have been
But it will have to suffice
Perhaps though not as nice
I will serve rice .................

I use 1cal spray oil too. I don't own a chip pan, haven't had one for many years. If I do make chips, I part boil them, put them on a baking tray, spray with 1 cal and stick them in the oven. Very rare I have them though.
I do use extra virgin olive oil, depending what I am cooking. I did have an air fryer but gave it away, wasn't happy with the results.
