Mind set,

Started by: tomplum (12353)

Who else has this ability to set their mind, I've never needed an alarm clock because, I can set my mind to wake up early when needed But, the draw back is, When i do this it stops me going into deep sleep and. I'm watching and checking the time throughout the night, This leads to tiredness the day after,
Can anyone else do this and, how do you cope ?

I find I have always been able to estimate the time to within 10 minutes. Within five, if we exclude the immediate proximity to waking up, or falling asleep.

In fact, tom, I get the problem which you describe if I DO use an alarm clock.

Much better if I just decide when I want to wake.

99.9% of the time, I will succeed.

Of course, late nights, being sleep deprived, drinking etc interferes with the ability, and can result in oversleeping.

Don't mind me everyone, I'm just trying to blow some fresh air into this troll infested board while i'm, scoping my camera's hoping to see Prickles, My adopted hedgehog who, I'm hoping will visit me shortly ,
I'll let you all know when he/she does ,

Ena, I'm impressed , because I cannot pin it down to the nearest minute, for example, if i need to be up for say, 4 am, I will be waking from about 2.30, the dropping off and waking again about 3.00 and again about 3.45 and then getting up earlier than needed about 3.55 and as you say, there must be no beer the night before, that would be a ' spanner in the works'

Isn't it odd. That is exactly what would happen to me, if I had set an alarm clock for 4-00am. I seem to be anticipating the alarm, which interferes with a proper sleep. So, naturally, I very rarely will use an alarm clock.

My Dad never needed an alarm clock,he said to tell your subconscious mind what time you want to wake up, and it worked every time for him.

Good morning Tom,I'm just the same never set an alarm & have never been late for work or to catch a flight, when I wake in the night I guess the time & I'm usually 10 minutes either side, but I never feel tired in a morning even though I may have been awake three times

I blame mine on years of shift work.I do envy people who can have a lie in or have a good nights sleep but I am not tired during the day.

Tom

Well why did you not just buy a good alarm clock, and then you could have slept as deep as you like, if I have to get up early, I have two alarm clocks, and I put the alarm on my phone too, all three at five minute intervals from each other, so that if for some reason, the first one does not wake me, then the next has a go at it, and if all three fail to wake me, I will sack all three, and try a different alarm clock

Tommy Tee, I am a considerate person and, an alarm clock will awaken other people, I'm like a Ninja, I get up , get dressed and disappear without a sound, I'll leave a box of black magic on mrs Plums bedside table or a cup of tea,

Not heard of Black Magic for a while. When I was a kid, 'Black Magic' was almost synonymous with box of chocolate.

The worst thing (It has happened just a couple of times, in my entire past) is when you think you have got up, full of beans, and off to successfully do whatever.....

And

Then you wake up, and realise you had only dreamed that you had done so.

Now, it is later than you thought, and it all lies in front of you, awaiting still yet to be done.

I have to admit, that has happened to me also, although I still had time to regain the lost ground,

I always use the alarm on my phone if I need to be up at a specific time but I'm always awake before the alarm. I don't need the alarm really, Just precautionary.
