Every now and again, they do a freebie feature of one particular author.

In past, I have got Thomas Hardy, Shakespeare, DH Lawrence, Ernest Hemingway, and Cicero.

When I first got me Kindle, which must have been at least a decade ago, I found a university in Australia, which was providing free downloads for George Orwell novels, so I think I got all them

Can you not get free downloads of books for your Kindle / Kobo from your local library?

it's probably cos after someone's been dead 70 years copyright expires. He died 70 years and one month ago.

Have a look for them, boredy, it's not as if you have anything else to do, is it.

He has the nerve to say others are antagonising on here. You couldn't make it up.

Thanks for the heads up, Ena M. I couldn’t find any Orwell ebooks for free yesterday, but most were less than a pound (and still are today) so you can’t be vexed at that.

Also, Wigan library card holders can borrow some titles for free, as ebooks or audiobooks: Link

Showing my age here, but never mind, here goes: When I read 'The Road to Wigan Pier', it was much, much, closer to the time in which it was written, than to present day!
