Verisure Alarms (as on TV)

Started by: Billinge Biker (2384)

Friend of mine had one fitted recently and highly recommended the system and the rep/fitter who attended their home. I got the reps number and called him 11.30am yesterday... Luckily enough he was in the area and called at 1pm..he had a presentation pack... Videos.. Equipment they use and explained everything perfectly. Note... This is a fit and subscription service that is manned 24/7 with a monitoring service who contact police... £30.89 a month... And installation of all equipment for £357. That includes two control panels and a remote panel. 6 fobs to set and unset alarm.. (no PIN numbers) 3 magnetic sensors for downstairs windows.. Door alarm contacts for front and back door... Camera bell outside front door with speech ability... Camera outside rear door... Internal siren.. Both sensor activated... Fogging container.. Only activated by control centre...fills home with smoke within 40 seconds. Various SOS and police panic buttons... All this is Wi-Fi and is easily monitored on my phone via 2 apps you download... If it is faulty their engineer fixes without cost as this is covered in your monthly rental... A truly great system... Can't praise it enough.... After 6 months you can cancel the contract and ALL items are yours. There is no exterior siren/box as they are considered useless... Three warning signs placed on front of property and a bigger one on my garage door..... Marvellous.... Plus if I recommend a new customer I receive £100 to my account. . The rep Chris fitted the system there and then within 2 hours.... Anybody interested.... I will forward his number... No need to call Verisure direct.

A word to the wise.

Read the reviews first.

BB,
I have similar but ihave carbon monoxide sensors and water and heat sensors in the basement. If the temp dips below a certain level it notifies control centre and if there is any water in the basement it does the same. They automatically contact people on my contact list. This means we can go away for weeks on end without anyone visiting the house to satisfy insurance requirements. We pay less than £20 per month. We do have to pay the police a small fee to ensure we get priority service.

Verisure operate a similar business model to the double glazing companies. Commission based sales, high volumes, low margins, self employed installers working to fixed prices, incentivised referrals etc

Reading the reviews people either love them or hate them. This comment stood out though......

"I called to query my verisure healthcheck report as it was completed an hour ahead of UK time.
David from Newcastle? Whitney Bay took my call and explained that the hour ahead on report was because they work to Spainish time"

I would have run a mile............

But how long does it take the Police to respond

Perhaps as broady has pointed out you pay a fee to get priority service.

Alarm to 24hour monitoring station = instant.

24hour monitoring station to police control centre = 20 seconds.

24hour monitoring station given a crime number.

police control centre to police officers = 20 minutes.

Police officers attend alarm address = the day after.

Don't rely on the police if you have had 3 false alarms in a year

We have never had an emergency so no idea of response times. If we forget to turn the alarm off and open a door there is an internal siren. Almost immediately we are connected to the alarm control centre who ask questions and we have to give them our password to satisfy them that it is us. The front doorbell has a camera and we can communicate via our mobile devices. There is a camera pointing to the drive that we can monitor from anywhere. We have had raccoons and a coyote during the night this week. We also control the heating and air conditioning from our phones. We can have the irrigation connected for a fee. As we were connected earlier in the year to high speed Internet all the equipment was obsolete so they replaced it all FOC.

Much more elaborate set ups around us. I think ours is just the bread and butter package.

As a "high-tech" setup, it takes the biscuit.
As a security alarm system it's rather lacking.

"After 6 months you can cancel the contract and ALL items are yours."
Read - After 6 months you can cancel the contract and ALL items are USELESS!

"There is no exterior siren/box as they are considered useless."
I disagree!

"... if I recommend a new customer I receive £100 to my account. "
There's proof that it's overpriced!

Good company too!

Following my last comment... Just wanted to ask anyone how they can tell whether a dog or his wife is his best friend.
I have the answer!

On a serious note, laaaaike, they are a good security system. As I said above, "As a "high-tech" setup, it takes the biscuit."
In fact, my mate has one installed at his business premises in Leigh and another installed in his place in Spain, at the other side of town to my place.
Over there, they are called "Securitas Direct" (same company) and are very popular. I don't have it, but I do have their notices up (which his installer gave me as I was there on the day) along with 2 green l.e.ds which work off AA batteries..

J.R., I remember when I worked at the pit, one afternoon shift, somebody (who shall remain nameless, but he's a fitter from near Wigan and knows bentlegs!) brought a video player in and showed a film called "His Dog Was His Wife's Best Friend"!
I believe it was a regular feature on t'night shift.
No wonder the NCB shut down!

Great story that Tonker. Would make a good comedy drama.
Getting back to my dog story...
I heard this from someone years ago. Is a dog or his wife a man's best friend?
There is a simple exercise to find out. You lock them both in the boot of your car for 2 hours. When you eventually let them out..  who is most happiest to see you!

I'd love to get a dog, but I think that I am too old. The dog would probably outlive me, and need rehoming.

Although it may seem that the obvious answer is to take on an older dog, the rehoming kennels will not place them with older people.

Had dogs lots in the past, so I am quite picky concerning which breed I would accept!
