Am I missing Something...

"Apparently, calling a Paki Power person a Paki, can render you for a £200,000 pay-out, if the settlement Yorkshire County Cricket Club agreed to becomes the norm. However it's worth pointing out, those of Pakistani heritage are exempt. You just couldn't make it up!!!" Mr T Smith on Twitter.

Just wondering what will be done about Rafiq's anti-Semitic remarks now he's "apologised". Still I'll give him credit for his big 'money grab'.

It's no wonder we have dinghies full of the unwanted trying to get to the land of milk and honey. Gawd Help Us.

Too much of a touchy subject I see for those who like to throw the hypocrisy word about.

"Azeem Rafiq, has got gambling debts, and he is trying get money out of Yorkshire CCC, because he is short of cash."

And he's doing it in the very well tried and tested way .

Yes, and he's coming to the end of his cricket career.

If racism is/was so endemic why did they all keep coming to play in the UK? Surely they talk to players who played here before signing up.

Not sure the P word is the actual problem, rather the context in which it used and the reason and motivation for using it

It would seem a big problem for Pakistanis though except if they use it. Just like black people who don't like the use of N word but use it a term of endearment towards each other. Hypocrisy is hypocrisy and to use it in the way they do is wrong on all counts.

"Hypocrisy is hypocrisy and to use it in the way they do is wrong on all counts"

In the picture shown is the P word being used intentionally to cause upset, offence, humiliation, degradation etc to certain individuals?

Yes the word is the same but it is being used in a light hearted maybe self deprecating way. It is not and never has been about the `word`, it is about how it used and the way in which it is delivered.

The meaning of Paki is —used as an insulting and contemptuous term for an immigrant from Pakistan or a neighbouring south Asian country.

As I stated it's fine for them to use the word or wear a sports shirt with it emblazoned on it, it's racist for me to use but fine for Pakistanis to use and show off with as in the photo. Hypocrisy at it's finest and also a card to be pulled at their whim.

I'm not a racist by the way I just don't like this sort of crap.

Terry?

lets try it this way.......purely hypothetical of course.

"Terry watch out for that dog turd on the pavement"

Terry, you are a worthless dog turd"

Same word, two sentences, two contexts, Which one would you find innocuous and which one would you find offensive?

Its not about the word itself.
