Booster Jab appointment

Started by: jacks (435)

I booked an appointment for this coming Monday, at Hollowoods in Mesnes street. I was offered a time slot, but then read that it might take up to 45 mins to get the jab. I'm slightly baffled!

I'm told they are very busy and there are usually long queues along Mesnes Street.

Same everywhere jacks my app was 09.32 at Robin Retail & I had the jab at 10.05...a man queued up next to us & he didn't have an app but went straight in & had a jab

nanajacqui: I've been given a reference number. I wonder if this gets me in quicker?

Your reference number guarantees you a jab, not a time. Lots of people are having to queue apparently.

You need an appointment for your booster jab. They have lists and times when you are expected. You cant just turn up.

A number of friends with time slots at Hollowoods turned up at their appointment time to be told the times didn't matter, just the reference number for the booking.

Had both the jabs and the booster at Hollowoods, no queueing involved. Very well organised, in and out in just over 10 mins. There is limited parking just up the road in front of the multi storey behind the old Smiths shop too.

It seems like the booking system has gone awry. I know a couple
who are entitled to a booster but cant book and appointment. Yet people are just walking in?

NHS England has said that there is no ‘widespread issue’ with the national booking system for Covid vaccinations, despite eligible patients claiming they have been unable to book their booster jabs.

Well folks, I got there at my appointed time, and gave them my reference number. Nothing was said, as such, about a time. Got the jab quickly enough, then, as usual, waited 15 mins, and done.

Ithink it has to do with the 26 week gap between the second and booster, i had a text to book a jab, I can't have a booking untill after 04/11, So if people are going before they are due, that will explain the queues and disorganization, Its people panicking at the pumps all over again,

well, he keeps saying, I'm a great person, and " I can live my life in any way I want to" or words to that effect but spends most of his time on here trying to convince people.

"I tend to be a fairly cautious person" definitely not, he came on here all guns blazing, even though he denied ever being on here before, that's when LG sussed him, so then he started to get nasty to LG.

Classic narcissist Baz and it was only a matter of time before he revealed it……but hey it’s ok not to be ok and it’s wrong to ridicule the afflicted. He can’t help it if he isn’t wired up right!!

We know what we are dealing with now, the poor old lad has issues upstairs and he needs help, we should be sympathetic and supportive towards him, however it’s not an excuse for his ongoing conduct.

Let’s be thankful we don’t have to tolerate him in real life eh?

Just to get back on topic, I've had 2 flu jabs, 2 Covid jabs and the booster all in 10 months this year. All well organised, no queueing and only mild symptoms with the 1st and 3rd jabs. I presume that the booster will be a yearly thing going forward, as per the flu shot. Just as aside, who thinks masks are coming back and who is in favour ?

For God's sake I am sick to death orreading these childish, bickering and infantile comments from the same old idiots. Just get a life or go down the pub and bicker face to face. What is wrong with you that you enjoy this behaviour.
What I was gong to say to the adult posters is that you can check online on the NHS site and they will list the drop in centres in your locality. No appt necessary as long as you are 6 months after your second jab. We did this yesterday nut had a very long wait. Staff great though and hot drinks offered. Now someone else went to another centre and had no queue at all so I suppose it's the luck of the draw

basil brush I don't understand why it is less organised with the boosters. I am prepared to wait and put up with it and appreciate stff are doing a good job. WE did see some jump the queue which got a few backs up when others had beenwaiting. I asked 2 girls afterwards how dod they manage to jump the queue and I was told that anyone in the queue waiting for a first or second jab is fast tracked. I id see one old lady approach staff and aske if she could go next because she was tired of waiting and she was firmly told to wait like everyone else or leave. She left

As I understand it, there are 2 makes: AZ and Pfizer. One of them, can't remember which one, needs to be kept refigerated but the other one doesn't and it depends on which batch has been delivered to the Centre. Also, if the refigerated one is there, that has to be used first and quickly so they let any old fool in whether appointment or not.

When we took my Mother in Law for her first shot in January, my Wife took her in and I was sat outside in the car. She was asked what relation she was to her and she said Daughter and she was asked does she live with you. She was then told there had been quite a number of no shows that day and she could have hers at the same time. As I was present too, I could also have mine as well. We were 59/60 respectively at the time. I put it down to the fact they didn't want to throw vaccines away and would rather administer them Then we found out we'd had the AZ which can be kept in a fridge, not the deep freeze Pfizer version. 2nd shot in April was AZ again and the booster in October was Pfizer.
