Back in time for school

Started by: linma (2911)

Who watched that programme last night, if you didn’t you missed a treat? It started 1961/1962, I was 14/15 years old. Morning assembly, every day, the children there hated it you could tell with their faces. Maths, no computers etc, they were stumped. A class full of lasses learning to type and the teacher put on a record and before it started I knew what it was, the William Tell overture, we had to type in tune to the music. Dinner time, food cooked on the premises, sponge and custard. All the girls took turns being servers, eight to a table. Why the lads never were servers I don’t know. The food was always good. I can’t imagine the looks on their faces if they had been served semolina, or was it sago (frog spawn), I certainly’went back in time’.

Didn’t see it last night but have seen it before. It’s part of a series. Back in time for tea, corner shop, Christmas and others, all very good.

I think we sat six to a table and we rotated with two of us every week acting as servers. ( Boy’s school)

Those that used them had fags round the back of the bike shed. Looking at Bull Hey.
