The Larkins

Started by: linma (2911)

Watched the first episode but not impressed with the language, and it was tame by today’s standard but it is 1959. The Vicar swearing and one of the villagers telling the Larkins they needed to start using contraceptives. I watched five minutes last night and switched off, bring back The Darling Buds of May.

We watched the first episode and it was dire, gave it a second chance last night and it was worse, never again.Bradley Walsh was terrible and has no acting skills whatsoever.

Fully agree with both of you. Not a good show.

Bradley Walsh has made a balls of Blankety Blank too, Not easy to follow Les Dawson but he's even worse than Lily Savage and I've never heard of most of the so called celebrities Walsh is on telly too much these days.

Peter g: I agree but I think with some people they give them golden contracts and then have to use them. Often find some people are never off the TV until the contract ends.
I think that's what's happened with Bradley, but he's well past his sell-by now.

It's too Disneyfied for me, when the little girl fixed the Rolls Royce engine and the other brat painted a perfect crest on the door that was enough bullsh1t for me. Of course then there is the Elephant in the room of being totally PC .

Its a light hearted drama based on fiction, not a true to life historical documentary or representation!!

There was just as many `inaccuracies` in Vigil a few weeks ago but I didn't hear any shouting about that one!

Get over yourselves

Well,I enjoyed 'The Larkins'..it's supposed to be light hearted so I don't expect Laurence Olivier acting..it's refreshing..I also enjoy The Chase and nobody could follow Bradley Walsh..and I personally like him...so there.

On about Vigil, it would have been more fun, if that baddie had shot her out of that torpedo tube

I missed this week but I did think the first episode didn't really capture the 50s as well as the old series. I agree with your points. Possibly they are trying to appeal to a younger audience.
