New traffic signs

Started by: mortarmillbill (928)

Has anyone else noticed the new traffic signs at the motorway roundabout at Bryn.

One shows what looks like a cloud with the letter C in the middle of it and underneath it says Zone Ends.

Can anyone explain what they mean.

I agree with the 'sentiment' of wanting clean air in our towns and cities, but by doing it in such an 'authoritarian' and 'draconian' (I'v swallowed a dictionary) manner, as far as I am concerned they can go screw themselves

I've noticed those too Tom, all over the place, they look the same as the speed cameras attached to lamp posts on the A580 near Manchester but those are painted yellow.

Does not apply to private cars, its for vans, buses, coaches, taxis, private hire, mini buses and HGVs that don't meet Euro 6 standard.

There's a new camera appeared on Mesnes Road between the Brocket and the Cherry Gardens. Quite high up pointing towards Wigan. What are they supposed to record/enforce ?

Spotted another one of those lamp post cameras on Wigan Road near Ashfield Park facing up the hill to Standish.

What are they, and why are they being put up everywhere all of a sudden?

Has anyone noticed the catapult wires strung across numerous roads over the last few weeks? Some serious traffic census being done by the look of things.

I saw a man today working on the camera in Poolstock Lane, On the side of the van it says, ' National data recovery ', So there's a bit more info to add to the equation.

With the amount of roadworks, the catapults and cameras, has anyone seen anywhere a press release telling us why?

All the cost of this, plus the people to run it, watching cameras, checking payments, taking payments, plus the pay and public sector pensions...

For what?

Cost will be passed on to the consumer, food, fuel, taxis, amazon, etc. etc.

Why is no-one complaining? I have written to my useless MP.

When pollution levels meet the recommendations the clean air zone charging will cease according to Andy Burnham. He has offered the ANPR cameras to Greater Manchester police when no longer rquired for the clean air zone.

charging people will not lead to clean air.All it does is make Burnham and company wealthy. The cars will still spew out the pollution until everyone buys electric cars.By taking money off people every day nobody will be able to afford to purchase one

Perhaps if those who are driving did not break the rules of the Highway Code and drive without a driving license, Insurance, MOT etc and not use mobile phones while driving, there might not be any need for any camera's.

People have only themselves to blame for the increasing number of measures taken by the Government against those flouting the laws.

It's not all about revenue collecting, but public safety
