I've noticed the BBC

Advertising black history month before programmes,why is there no mention of white history months? Yet another form of racism that's ignored!

I've been asking that. It's as if whites don't exist and have no rights here.
If you go to their countries you won't find 'White History Month' and you don't get the same rights or mention of racism.

Yes TW they are, the point is that theirs is advertised and stuffed down our throats and whites (or yellows, greens, blues) isn't.

So are ours, we have the History channel ads on regular and the World At War is never off, A House Through Time is advertised all the time as well. I don't see a problem.

am sure if it had been the other way round and it was the whites who had been oppressed by the blacks for centuries instead of the whites oppressing the blacks, (slavery, segregation, persecution, apartheid etc) the situation and indeed the whole argument might be different

if they didn't have their month, and there was a white month there would be uproar.

Neverstill /Platty ,, I agree with the both of you take for example that new tv series of " The Darling Buds of May "" am i being racist this new concept they have introduced a black member in it , i don't recall back in the day very rarely seeing a black person ,so why bring one into the show now ???? just asking . Stardelta answer me this why does Lewis Hamilton say he's a Blackman when he isn't? As far as I know he's never said he's white and why do all mixed race people claim to be black and not white? Obviously their 50/50.

Yesterday on one of the Sunday morning shows they had a black guy who said he had started a scholarship for Black Musicians only. Can you imagine the furor if someone had said that If it was White Musicians

I watched the 'Darling Buds of May' reboot on ITV last night "The Larkins" and that has been 'interfered' with

Maybe we the white people should stop all the glorifying of our black Rl players past and present, and our Olympians and remove them from our history of sports. Many black people who fought and died in WW1 and 2 for theirs and other countries against fascism such as the Senegalese and other African tirailleur units who fought with distinction against some of the toughest Nazi troops should be erased from history and no one should learn of how they played a massive part in the liberation of Europe along with Indian, Gurkha's who by the way get called 'Pakis' in their home town in the UK.

Learn about history, everyone's history it's all relevant to go forward.

But should history be altered to include black people, to appease present day black people, which then means that the history depicted, is no longer factually correct.

You can't alter what has gone before. History is just that history.

Larkins last night had a Shopkeeper who was coloured also the Brigadier was coloured and also has a sister(where did she appear from). At the end Charlie was coloured does that mean his child will be half cast Most villages of the era did not have coloured residents and by this time most of the coloured solders from the war had gone home. When Midsummers Murders was 1st shown again there were no coloured families in any of the quaint English villages .

I would guess it is because he is proud of the fact he is of mixed race

I couldn't care less what colour someone is, but I won't call someone black, if they are not black, and vice versa, as regards mix race, if someone is mixed race, they are mixed race, and as to what colour they are is open to interpretation, for me Lewis Hamilton is black, he was just born that colour, even if 'officially' he is 'mixed race' and I judge the man by what he is, not by the colour of his skin.

So if a film is made about the life of Lewis Hamilton, is it OK if he was portrayed by a white actor ?

In the film 'Rush' would it have been OK to cast the parts of James Hunt, and Niki Lauder with black actors ?

Of course it wouldn't, so with that opinion, does that make me out to be a racist ?

I like Rush, the producers went some distance to find actors who looked like the individuals they were portraying and I think that was the whole key to the film. It wouldn't have worked otherwise, even with white actors. Likewise a film about say......Mohamed Ali wouldn't work if the star was white.

Noel Clarke would make a good Lewis Hamilton, but he has been a naughty boy and dropped off the radar!

"Brigadier was coloured" Well he was portraying an ex officer of the India Army (retired, and going off his medals (which were worn in the wrong order) of Pip Squeak and Wilfred or the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal states he was in WWI. Many of which came to settle in the UK after the war.

GB I thought the same about the darling buds of May. Marietta's new boyfriend will be the tax man I think and this would have been frowned on in the 50s. I'm not bothered about black actors but it's not an accurate portrayal of a 50s English village. Quite a nice show though for Sunday evening. But why couldn't they find a young girl to play 19 year old Marietta. This actress is 31!
