Whupsy & Grimshaw are in Brexit heaven

Personally, I have said umpteen times that I have no problem with Johnny Foreigners coming over here too work, and as El Tonker has said, the problem now is that if they come to work over here to work, they now have to pay UK taxes and National Insurance, and then there IS the ongoing Covid stuff, with quarantine etc

I don't get it, because as far as I know folk from abroad can come here and work, they just have too doo the paperwork, so this temporary visa scheme just doesn't make sense, unless this visa means that the UK tax and National Insurance regulations are exempt for aliens who have the temporary visa ?

I don't think that EU nationals coming here through free movement have ever given a toss about whether they feel wanted or not, they came here to better themselves, or just to earn more money, what I objected to was them bringing their families with them, and settling over here, to the detriment of this country.

Dos tiempos, in what way would working, settled, 'EU nationals' and their families be a detriment to this country?
The only detriment to this country comes via. those foreigners who don't work (or do work, but keep under the radar!), set up their own communities, associations and councils then try to change the laws of the land in their favour!

If a man brings his family over to this country on a permanent basis, then that family need a house, a school, a GP, etc etc etc etc, so that family becomes a burden on the British state, the taxes the man pays in this country, pay for only a fraction of what the family cost the British state, and between four and six million of those EU buggers, came over here and 'burdened' the British state since 2004, so if that is not to the 'detriment' of this country, then I don't know what is.

If that same man comes over here to just work, and he works, pay his taxes to the UK government, lives in digs, then that is not to the detriment of this country.

would you bring your family into a country that wants you to work for them ? . why do you always browbeat "foreigners"& not the rich who send their money out of the country & pay no tax & that is TO THE DETRIMENT OF THIS COUNTRY ? .

I've been reading in the Mirror today how the haulage driver shortage has been engineered by BP and the media, supported by the intellectually challenged who panic buy, and how infectious that is.
The problem is drivers rates of pay and now the increase in NI which has upset BP.
One driver told his story of how he was being paid £9 per hour and his Hungarian counterpart was being paid £8.
One driver said he asked for a pay rise, was sacked, and they brought in an East European. Another driver was told if he didn't like the job, go and work in Hungary.
The rise in NI rates has caused problems across these private industries and BP particularly who can spend £millions drilling holes in Mohammed's country and the middle of the sea, but like to pay peanuts. Even fatty has said they need to pay a living wage.
Worth a read.

I'm glad to see the tory government have backed down ( so much for brexit! ) and are starting to let the foreign drivers back over here. This should have been done months ago. It will serve the government right if the the foreign HGV drivers tell them to shove it. I sincerely hope they don't because we'll all suffer.

Well, I looked up driving jobs around our area of the NW. The minimum wage offered, for 7.5ton drivers, was £550 per week.
Anybody who can't live on £550 a week wants sacking!

Tonks: rubbish. I know of snivel serveants on grade A on that wage. No responsibility, no come backs. These drivers deserve more than that, especially given they get fined for not meeting time constraints.
I have a PCV D+E, wouldn't waste my time.

I know major companies wouldn’t be unscrupulous but as a tanker holds around 36,000 litres why wouldn’t they let a crisis ( man made) develop and park full tankers up in the refinery. A shortage of any goods normally leads to a price increase and once petrol goes up let those tankers get back on the road. Work out what a 5p increase does to a tanker load. I know this would never happen.

bring as many foreigners in as they like, as long as they work, pay NI and tax, plus they will be spending some of their wages in this country

You need an ADR to drive a fuel tanker, all the foreigners went back after Brexit was completed, there has been no shortage since then, so this situation with the fuel has nothing to do with Brexit, if it was Brexit then it stands to reason that there would have been fuel shortages in the weeks immediately following Brexit.

thaknows: Absolutely right, but the pingdemic didn't help.
This is all about keeping wages low and using cheap labour coupled with the remain lobby trying to take GB back into the EU gradually. BP were infuriated with the NI hike.

Getting up at 3 a.m. to be able to get from Bedford to Newcastle and back in one day every day, motorway service parking is minimal resulting in drivers having to hunt for free laybys to meet rest requirements. Employers who in general expect you to get there and back notwithstanding what the law requires.
But then driving a 45 ton artic costing £150,000 plus cargo is just a job anyone can do.

But many of the EU workers don't abide by British driving rules because they have an escape route.

From the above link via Daily Mail

Lorry drivers from the EU are refusing to come to the UK - because they believe problems plaguing the supply chain are Britain's own fault.

The Government has approved plans to bring in 5,000 foreign HGV operators to deal with the shortage, which has been blamed on a number of factors including the coronavirus pandemic and Brexit.

But promises of special visas and attractive pay - with some firms offering as much as £78,000 a year - have fallen on deaf ears, with one union boss declaring they 'will not go to the UK for a short term visa to help UK out of the s**t they created themselves'.

And lorry drivers in this country are as equally disillusioned, with one who gave up the job after 30 years, likening they way they are treated 'to being the lepers of society'."

And there we go. We'll all lie in the bed. Although we didn't all make it

TTS: I would like to go on record and agree completely with all he is saying, and whilst on this subject i will highlight a case in point that i wrote about weeks ago. That is the red tape and bureaucracy in this country is absolutely scandalous , My son-in-law recently returned from NZ whilst over there he passed his petrol tanker 's driving licence test ,( which by the way meant he could drive double tanker's) On arriving back home he applied for a ( youv'e guessed it)) A TANKER DRIVER 'S JOB ! He produced all the relevant certificates and was then told he would have to take a further test at a cost of £ 2/3 thousand pounds ! Of which he could not at the time afford ,, NOW I BEG THE QUESTION WHY WAS HE CAPABLE OF DRIVING PETROL TANKER'S IN NEW ZEALAND ,BUT NOT HERE ???? BUT for all that he would have been only one but it was a start to helping the shortage ,this just goes to prove the hurdle's that a person has to jump through in this RED TAPE COUNTRY ,The moral is he now drive's HGV for Home Bargains and is paid more that a tanker driver ,,,
WORK THAT OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!gb

NONE of them are currently driving,(as an occupation, that is.)
