They should be getting a pay rise, even if it is only a small one, and I cannot understand why they are not getting one.

The police are not local enough..by that I mean walking the streets…they only seem to be out and about when they are called out…nobody fears the local community officers strutting the streets…

Only kidding.
Replied: 27th Jul 2021 at 13:06
No, but didn't they say something like this before, drag them out of there bed and make them sweep the streets.
Replied: 27th Jul 2021 at 13:35
BB we dont need burglars eyeing up houses whilst sweeping the streets . We need all of the illegal immigrants sweeping the streets to earn their keep
Replied: 27th Jul 2021 at 13:46
why, do you think immigrants won't rob your house?
Replied: 27th Jul 2021 at 13:51
BB if they do then they can be deported

We need the police they are essential workers, we can not do without them so, they should be treated as such, We don't see them as much because, they are working more cleverly and not so much in view, But they are there watching , Just ask

I have immense respect for our police, they do a tough job and have to deal often with the lowest of the lowest, and have to face situations and people that most of us see only in gritty tv dramas . Yes of course it would be good to see them walking a beat but inreality the urban sprawl that most of us live in make it almost impossible. Also they do not get to chose where they go it is where they are called and information given when called by joe public. The few times I have had to call them (and no not for me ) but when I have wirtnessed a crime taking place they have been great. Yes there are a few bad eggs amongst them but you get that in every profession. I do think they should have received a raise and the same goes for all the emergency workers, and I also include in that the vast number of key workers who have kept things going

All i have to say on the subject of giving cops a pay rise , maybe ,, but maybe they should get 1% ,and as for going and working slow ,,they weren't SLOW IN COMING FORWARD FOR THE VAST amounts of overtime stopping the miners fighting for their pay rise did they ???????COPS were drafted in from all over the UK to combat the miners ,,so on reflection NO THEY DON'T DESERVE A RISE ,...........GB

I used to have good respect for the police, till my wife was bitten by a large dog and had to go into Whiston hospital for plastic surgery, and we never saw a police man or woman at all.the local councilor and i made a official complaint, and was told an Inspector would phone within 24 hours, and still it never happened,so i have no faith in them at all.

I have no respect for the majority of police officers.
What's more, I have no respect for the system which they work under. It's a corrupt system.

11% of my monthly pay was taken out automatically towards my Police pension. I did grumble at the time... But in the long run I have had it all back and more... And it's still coming... The present day officers are paying MY pension.... Good on em.

So you are saying that they shouldn't get a pay rise for something which happened 37yrs ago ?
Most of the police force of today wasn't even born 37yrs ago.

The Margaret Thatcher picture was just a joke, OK maybe it wasn't the most cleverest of things to post on a miner's topic.

TTSC: Maybe tommy because i am still bitter how the miner's were treated and on a personal note my late father who gave his life to the production of the black gold and did not get any recognition also what gripes me was Gordon Brown the PM at the time awarding a medal to the( bevan boys ) for their contribution during WW2 ,, And we know why they joined the mines don't we ???? NO MEDAL, NOR THANKS FOR HIM JUST 100% PNEUMOCONIOSIS WHICH KILLED HIM AT 62 YEARS , so yes i stand by my remarks . GB....

I still don't see how anything in your last post, is relevant to today's police force, it reminds me of the BLM brigade, black people hating me today for something my ancestors did to them 250yrs ago.

the rozzers are understaffed so there's not enough to go around, when they do arrest someone the judge just slaps their hands, no fear, no deterrent.
