WHY can't boris johnson tell nicola sturgeon that if she wants scotland to be independant then ok ,, BUT tell clearly there will be NO ORE MONEY FROM THE ENGLISH PARLIAMENT thus ending FREE PRESCRIPTION / UNIVERSITY FEES /AND A LOAD OF OTHER ITEMS SCOTLAND GETS FOR BUCK SHEE !!!!!!!!!G.B.

It irks somewhat that the devolved nations are entitled to lots of freebies that English citizens don't get. True independence must mean they fund themselves without our taxes propping them up.

I do not want Scotland to leave but it would be better that they leave as soon as possible or this will just go on and on.All the UK will suffer,Scotland the most.

Told Nicola Sturgeon " not never but not now "
for another independence referendum .

Let them leave - and take their royals with them!

I do not believe Scotland is the issue but Nicola Sturgeon. She isn't going to stop until she gets what she wants.
If she gets her way, she's going to claim right to everything which is profitable for Scotland and cast off everything which is not.
What she fails to acknowledge is, the EU aren't greatly interested in having Scotland without the rest. They have no wish to divide areas which are viewed as being as one, such as Britain (or UK). Dividing lands might be an issue. A divided Britain may result in other countries having issues. There are social conflicts in other countries, such as: Spain, France and Germany, to name a few.

The woman is toxic but she will not stop unless the Scottish people stop her and I do not think they will.

She is fanatical in her intentions. And we all know where fanaticism can lead.
Let's hope she goes sooner rather than later.

Some on here chose to vote to leave the EU so I don't know why so much surprise??? People did say that it may cause the break up of the UK

Devolution has gone too far in my view and that old labour (or should I say NEW labour) government of Blair/Brown days is 100% to blame. We are a UNITED Kingdom and so it should remain. The courts should recognise that it is the government who govern and their intervention in such affairs is not warranted. We can then leave it to Boris Johnson to sort out the problem and put Nicola Sturgeon back doing what she should be concentrating on - making the UK a better and richer place.

My sentiments exactly, and last week on the BBC News Channel, I watched the Welsh Debate Program, and the 'Abolish the Welsh Assembly Party' candidate said exactly that about Plaid Cymru, he said that Wales and Scotland were 'sleepwalking' into Independence, and if that happened, and Wales tried to keep the standard of living which they have as members of the Yoonion, then Wales would end up 'bankrupt' his words not mine.

Well if the nurses were given a pay rise funded by what the Scots pay in tax, then they would probably get a very big pay cut, because the Scottish government actually spend money they get from the rest of the UK, they are net 'beneficiaries' of money from the UK , not contributors, and that is the main argument for them not becoming independent, because they would not be able to afford it.

Nicola and the SNP think that they could afford it.

BUT

It is one thing persuading the UK government to agree to another referendum, but it maybe another thing winning it though, in the form of the people of Scotland voting 'Yes' to independence.

A lot of people in the Highlands and Islands are against the idea of independence.

An estimate in 2019 said there are approximately 5.46 million people in Scotland and the Highlands. How can such a small population fund a total independence? I take it that neither one penny will cross the border either way to achieve this. When I see Sturgeon publicly state the above without any handouts from the UK or EU I may try to belive it is possible.. I doubt it... North Sea oil/gas is on its way out... Can't rely on fishing/Haggis hunting.

Yes, they 'came across the water' to make their fortune, they worked on various civil engineering projects, and I knew one of them, who told me that for years he towed a caravan round from job to job, and earned good money, he was actually a 'tunneller' although Irish he settled down in Wigan, married a Wigan lass, and bought a house in Springfield, the Irish belong to the 'common travel area' which exists between Britain and Ireland which gives citizens of each country full residency rights, they can do anything they can work, vote, bank etc
This arrangement was reinstated upon Brexit, however referring to Billinge Bikers comment, the scumbag travellers who blight this country are descended from those Irish immigrants who worked on the motorways etc, and they are not the true Romany Gypsies

I was working in Dublin around 2001 and we had lots of problems with travellers. They ventured on to our site one Saturday afternoon and the Gardai came and told them in no uncertain terms to move off in two hours or the " The lads from the Castle would be mobilised" This was the Army. Gone in less than two hours. Shortly after they took away a lot of the old rights they had with regards to pitching up anywhere etc. Next thing they are on tramp to Dunlaoghaire to catch the ferry to Anglesey and settle in a new country.
