Probably go the same way Hesketh motorcycles did... Overpriced... Gold-leaf paintwork..... Not for me.

My next door neighbour has two bikes and I know that he paid around five grand for one, which I find crazy. By the way, it isn't a motorbike nor an e-bike, just an expensive 'push iron'.
But, to be fair, he does get the full use out of the thing. I know, he cycled from Edinburgh to Glasgow via many towns and villages in the north of Scotland. I think that he cycled up to Inverness and then down to Oban and down to Glasgow.
Also, he went over to south Germany for a two-week holiday and cycled more than 1500 km. I told him, 'that isn't a holiday, it's a punishment'.
But! Paying 5 grand for a bike or 34 grand for a motorbike is because you are fanatical about biking or, you believe that it is an investment, or, as we say, you've got more money than sense. Whichever, I hope that it isn't the last reason.

That's a bike for someone who's got more money than sense.

I think if you want something and you have the money, then get it while you can enjoy it, because , One day you will not be able to and the money you had will be enjoyed by who ever benefits from your left behind money and valuables and it might spoil their day a tad if, You spent the money foolishly on a gold coloured bike worth a lot less than you paid,

A lot of these will be bought as an investment and never ridden or even started up, in the hope that sometime in the future they will get a good return on their money.
When I bought my Commando there was one coming off the production line without any oil in the engine and it was going straight in a glass case in some ones office.
The thing with biking is it's a physical past time and the older you get the more creaky you are, to the point where you might have the money but your body is buggered, so you should have bought it while you were up to scratch and able to enjoy it , then as your health got worse you can look back and think "Well at least I had a few years enjoyment to look back on" after all it's only money and when your skint they can't take away your memories.

If someone spent his last tenner and peed it up against a wall no one would think twice about it. But let a man buy a bike, that he can obviously afford, to either use or as an investment and he gets criticised.

A Commando, Yes I had one as well, the new interstate, ( well new at the time) 1973, A great bike, the smoothest of the British bikes because of the rubber mounted engine plates but, I had loads of issues with oil leaking onto the points, so much so that I took it back to millers and did a deal with a Bonneville, the bonnie was 2 years old but low mileage and I has so much fun on that bike that I felt I was doing something illegal , fun fun fun every day just for the price of petrol, £1 to fill the 3 gallon tank, It stopped after a while though, Mrs Plum came into my life and after a few short years, The Bonnie had to go, On the bright side, I've still got Mrs Plum and even though the milage is high, she starts every morning and plods on, the chain rattles a bit but no oil leaks and good on fuel,

Thats not a lot for a unique bike like that. You will pay north of £20k for a restored 70s Japanese classic such as a Z1 or a transition CB750. A top of the range goldwing is now over £30k and a Harley CVO LTD is over £35k. Some of the limited run Ducatis from the last decade like the1199 Superleggera are now nudging £50k. Lot of money but some people are happy to pay more for a wristwatch!!
