Owd on a bit.... The choice of Muslims is to fast during this month... Why is P. N. E. Football club dishing out free meal parcels to those Muslims who choose not to eat betwixt sunrise and sunset? Can someone enlighten me.

Preston North End is helping to bring its multi-cultural community together by educating locals about the importance of the festival of Ramadan and supporting those fasting with dates, fresh fruit and water.

Did they dole out food during Lent? Go to their countries and you are more liable to be jailed than fed if you pronounce your religion and it doesn’t conform with theirs.

The country of origin of their ancestors where there religion is widely practiced. As for spending time with Tomplum I would say you have spent as much time as me in his company!!!

However on my next trip over I shall make it a priority to try and arrange a pint with him and hopefully Mac.

"The country of origin of their ancestors "
After a statement like that I can see you and Tomp should get on well when you meet.

Some Muslims are exempt from fasting on health grounds. Some may chose not to fast but will be expected to do charitable work and donate food/ funding instead. I have a few Muslim friends who in the main do fast but they did tell me of the other oprions available.
I remember asking one lady if because of fasting did she lose weight easier and she said no way. Because when they are able eat in the evening they are really hungry plus they do need to try to get a meal in before sunrise - so all their food intake is eaten in a relatively short space of time.

LL,
Whilst I realise you currently have some kind of dispute try to remain objective when commenting. Have you ever worked in a Muslim country?

i like ramadam in a way. folk don't eat during day (as long as they are fit enough) In evening everyone gets together, socialises with wider family by eating well. I wish i had such a close family.

LL,
If I follow through on your " weird" line of thinking I presume I am a plumber as well? I wish you had told me last week before I hired a plumber.

The daily fasting time can vary by 5-6 hours depending where in the world you live. In South America and Africa it can be 11-12 hours but in Greenland 19-20 hours.
