Apple iPods etc

How can something so small cost so much? My daughter has just dragged me around the shops with her Christmas money in search of one of these things.

I don't understand why in our house we have got TVs (3)/VCR's/Paytv/PCs(2)/Playstation 2/DVD players/CD players (3 at last count only one of which works) and yet we have to have something else to play music on? Have we gone gadget mad? Is it just me or is everybody else the same?

Does anybody else have the same trouble with CD players? I seem to remember when they first appeared how we were told that they were going to replace Record Players and were so fantastic. Just about everybody I know has one that doesn't work. Ripped off or what?

I just wish I had shares in Apple, I can't see where all that money can go into something smaller than a cigarette packet. At least in a couple of weeks I will be able to work one that's something to look forward to - always wanted to hear more of that rap music.

I am beginning to sound like my mother, that's a worry. Now where did I put that list with my New Year's Resolutions on?

I can understand your frustration,with all these new gadgets ,If something goes wrong with them we have to ask the kids,my youngest(15 and last)can fix anything.
I remember some once said to me "how can something so small cause so much trouble"

i have a son-in-law, who by trade is a foreman electrician.he is a whiz kid with all things gizmatic !!!when he tires of them, he drops them off here at my home. he tells me how they work, and then away he goes???i have a room full of gadgets, the wife says i should put on e-bay.the latest gizmo, is a gadget that fits on the dashboard, and warns you of any speed cameras you may be approaching.its a legal thing aparently, so no come back from "evening all."

check for spy wear when you use Wigan World I seem to get a lot ,the kids do,nt get It on other Web sites.

Stupid iPods/gamecube and the like

Billy I have to tell you those speed camera detectors they had in Oz quite a few years ago and worked well - or so I am told! Then the boys in blue made them illegal, and came up with a detector to detect the detectors!! And a handsome fine to go with it. Bushwacker. Another gizmo for the bin.

Keno - my son is my technical expert, I just call "Help" to fix anything. Spyware, trojan viruses etc.

Have you heard of a small monthly book from the newsagent about $5 called "The Net Guide". Brilliant, keeps you up to date with everything. Also on the net www.netguide.com.au

Cherry I am a getting left behind with this technology but I am determined to keep up with it rather than left behind if I only read about it if nothing else. I can then "Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk".

I think the kids are so lucky these days, if I was 20 years, oh alright then make that 40 yrs younger I would be right into it. They have no fear.

I admit ozzielass..my kids won't let me go back and not learn about the new and latest..much as I would like to lol..Computers..well..as long as I can still do all my stories and articles on Word..I am ok with that..oh yeah..and meet new and exciting friends on Wiganworld. A bit costly it gets when I have to phone Wigan to get answers at times on how to do this or that on the comp lol..Love techy b/f's

Is this the first generation that can teach us oldies a thing or two?? It's mind boggling. They just pick it up so easy, from their friends at school, they give each other tips, exchange information about downloading music and this and that. Even pre-schools have mini-PC's.

I am in a tizz with all this stuff, but I can touch type, something neither of my kids can do Yeah at last. They find it amazing that I can read something and type it without looking at the keyboard. It gives me great satisfaction. I was taught on one of the old manual clunky typewriters and still have one on top of the bookshelf to remind me.

Just when I think I have got the hang of something like MP3's, they have brought out MP4's. Back to the drawing board.
