Comments: I lived in Manchester (Longsight) as a child. Joined the RN in 1962. Lived all over. settled in Plymouth. Came out of the RN in 1973. Emigrated to Canada in 1982. Married again in 1992 to a Hamilton lass. I have 3 grandchildren and love them to bits. I love my life in Canada


I miss: Not much, fish and chips in the newspaper, curry sauce as a extra. an English pint.

Comments: I lived on Ormskirk Rd., near Carnegie Library, and went to St. Marks School in Newtown, I was Beatrice Cooper then and left in 1965 for Halifax, N.S., then lived in Maple Ridge in B.C. for a few years but ended up in Ontario for the past 23 years. I'm married with 2 children and four grandchildren. I work for the Fire Dept., but am looking forward to more relaxing time, can't come soon enough.


I miss: miss the good pies and cakes, just the whole atmosphere there. Wasn't old enough to get to know the pubs before I left, but enjoy them when we're there.

Comments: Maiden name was Barlow. I used to live on Ormskirk Rd think that was newtown near pemberton..... I'm gettin old ! ! it was some time ago. Went to St Marks school. Moved to Canada in 1974. I'm married with 3 kids.... age 26..22..& 12 (gawd help me)


I miss: Sayers PORK PIES. The chippy The market. The friendy people.

Comments: Kendal Street, Lessingham Avenue Linley Close @Standish Lower Ground. Liverpool Road @ Platt Bridge. Left Wigan 1975 lived in Canada since then. Three grown up children plus five Grandchildren. Now both retired live on the shores of Lake Huron Ontario.


I miss: The Pubs, the friendliness and the good grub (Greenalghs pies, fish and chips in newspaper. Try to return as often as possible.

Comments: Was born and raised in Seatoller Place, Norley Hall, then married 1978 and lived in Upholland and Orrell. Last address Delphside Road, Orrell. Moved to Canada with wife Julie son Adam and daughter Ruth in May 2002, when I took transfer with work. I am Sales Manager for Canada and so travel to Montreal and Vancouver during the year.


I miss: We miss down to earth friends, pies, Heinz beans, tomato soup, good chippy wi' mushy peys.

Comments: Lived on St Clement's Road until I went to University in London. Since then lived in, Kent, Kenya, Toronto-Canada, Nanaimo-Canada, Florida, North Carolina, and finally, in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island in BC. Now retired, enjoying a very relaxed life and exploring the world of poetry.


I miss: Uncle Joe's mint balls, Treacle Toffee from the market hall, potted shrimps and all the friends from the Grammar School '47-'54.

Comments: I was born and lived at Gathurst Road Orrell, just up from the Old Engine. I went to Holgates Primary School and Upholland Grammar School. I was pianist in the Wigan Jazz Quartet that used to play in the old Park Hotel, now pulled down unfortunately. I left Wigan in 1969 to work for IBM down South. They assigned me to New York where I met my wife. We eventually emigrated to Toronto and have been here for a number of years. I work for the Justice cluster of ministries of the Ontario Government as IT Policy Coordinator. We have two children, a boy Stephen who was born in Portsmouth England, and a daughter Allison who was born in Scarborough Ontario. My present interests are downhill skiing and long distance biking. Until recently I used to race GS for Devil's Elbow's ski race team.


I miss: I miss the friendliness of the people most of all. Also the pubs, especially "The Foot" in Billinge. I especially miss a good meat and potato pie. They are impossible to find here and I lost my Auntie Marie's recipe.

Comments: Used to live in Garswood until 1981. Moved to Vancouver and have lived here since. Was recently over in Wigan [July] for a reunion of Ashton Grammar/Byrchall High and got to meet Wigan's top web designer [Brian]. I also met his neighbour Russ Winstanley :-)


I miss: Being able to walk to a pub and then another and another.... Yes Pies - although Vancouver has good bagels to compensate. Friendly, down to earth folks who understand my accent :-)
