My wife Alwyn took this with her Brownie 127 in the fifties. They sat on the lambretta scooter.

Great photo...we always have had dogs, all strays & oddbods needing home. At one time had a white boxer. His favourite pastime was sitting in the driver's seat of our old VW bus, he would sit there ages contemplating the world beyond the windscreen.

I lost my friend Sally 20 years ago ,I wrote this poem a few months after I lost her. I hope viewers don't mind my sharing it on the Life Without Sally.

My Beloved Staffie.
By Tom Walsh.

Life without Sally is hard to explain, no wagging tail, no friendly bark no long walks in the country park.
Gone are her eyes trusting and true, days are long and evenings blue without my soul mate Sally.

The fateful day the vet bid me come, her eyes were sad her tail was limp, I held her close, I hugged her tight, the time had come to say goodnight, to say goodnight to my companion Sally.

Tears welled up the hurt was real, the pain was harshI feel it yet. I stayed with her until the end, I couldn't bear to leave my friend, to leave my best friend Sally.

The journey home was very sad, I felt alone,I felt bereft. I brought home her collar, tag and lead,I have them yet and always will ,they are all that I have left ,of my dear friend Sally.

Years go by the pain is less, but still I wish
I could have shown a doughtier side on that dark day.
I hope she didn't see me cry or hear my deep and heartfelt sighs,I wouldn't want that bitter memory,
not for my best pal Sally.

That is so sad Tom, it’s very understandable though how we become so attached to our doggy friends.

So sad, Tom. Same for me with Ziggy, Merlin and Ben, but lovely memories of them, and I have their ashes in the kitchen and we have actually "heard" our Ben since he passed away, though not for a long time now. I would be terrified of the spirit of a person but not of a dog....he is welcome.

Lovely poem Tom, we were the same when our lovely Labrador Sam, passed away. The vet came early morning, to put him out of his misery. He was 15, and we got him at 6 was old. So that sad day no one went to school or work.

I seem to have had animals all my life..said I wasn't having any more because of my age but...my little chihuahua wasn't wanted by the breeder so guess what..he is brilliant,so intelligent, and loving to a fault..but he' ll probably outlive me ,as Chihuahuas live a long time...which is a big worry...

It is sad to loose a companion that gives only love and trust If only people were as faithful and loyal we would live in a wonderful world
