Did there used to be a Hunters Chemist some ware near Brocket arms ?

Paul,done my rooting and yes there was at the top of Mesnes Rd..my late Sister in Law used to work at Hunters in Wigan together with her friend Dorothy,who was the wife of Mr Sherrington who eventually ran the shop Sherringtons..if all this makes sense.

Thanks for the info its jogged my memory, I also remember Halls Bakery and a little chip shop just in the row of houses at the back of the Brocket.

That large bottle on the pavement is intriguing, wonder if it contained a tonic wine? It wouldn't be there very long these days would it, especially if it was like Buckfast.

Though maybe it could just contain water, I remember the Odd Bottle Off Licence on Woodhouse Lane who's owner had put whisky bottles on display in the window, well one night someone broke a window and took them all. They would have been very disappointed though, as all they contained was cold tea.
