Ron, wouldn't you be "looking towards Wigan" in all directions from that point?
You wouldn't be looking towards Wigan if you were looking in the other direction would you?
Remember that picture that is the entrance gate to the playground of my old school All Saints Secondary school.Across the road is the little toffee shop which in the 60:s was run by Mr and Mrs Williams. The classroom you can see was the Art room ,teachers Mr Richardson and Mr Worthington.
Mrs Masons sweet shop on the corner, later became Mrs Williams.
Had many a good night in the Pear Tree, when Jack Ashcroft, was the licensee, and his wife Pat was the life and soul of the party. That was in the fifties. A small part of a branch, from the original pear tree, hung on a string, in the bar.
Great picture. I was there 1961 - 1965
i played for the pear tree when we won the burtonwood rosebowl when frank feilding had it .
On leaving the Pear Tree, Jack, and Pat, came to Blackpool. They had a sandwich bar in Dickson Road, just before Gynn square. That is quite a few years ago now.
