If you go to
https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=18&lat=53.5394&lon=-2.6328&layers=168&b=4
you can see a modern day map superimposed on an old Ordnace Survey map of this mill and you can slide between the two. It pinpoints exactly where the mill was in relation to the present day roads and buildings.

There was a corn mill in Henry Street, Spring View, in the thirties and forties, and I believe into the fifties.. It was owned by Balls. During the war we would sit on the sandbags, put there to protect their widows. We would have a kids’ concert, and sing all the war time ditties prominent at that time. I was once was taken for a short ride, in Hilton Ball’s car, which was a real treat in those days. Very few had a motor car..

My dad was from Bridge St, born in 1930, I don't recall the street myself. A lot of the area being demolished in the late 60,s and early 70,s. With the map being 1929 i,m sure he would have known it well. Think the Bridge Inn was my Grandads ( Joseph ) local.
