I love this photo; a lovely, homely Wigan lady of the era. I bet she'd be amazed to see her photo on here! Eddie, you commented on another photo that you would be moving on soon. Thankyou for posting this brilliant set of photos and hope you will return to Wigan World soon.
It's a pity Terry didn't get a bit more of what looks like a Plaxton-bodied Bedford VAS coach into the frame.
So you are moving on and vacating that Anderson shelter! I am first in line for it Eddie! have enjoyed your witty quips and a great selection of photographs. IKeep dodging the shells !
When I stated that I would be moving on soon, I wasn't actually meaning this week. You'll most probably have to resign yourselves to having to put up with my Merlot induced ramblings for a month or two yet, and don't worry Vb, I'll make sure you get first refusal on the Anderson shelter. Regarding the Bedford coach, I believe Terry had parked the thing there as he lived in one of the terraced houses a bit further up the canal. When I see him, I'll try to get a bit more information about it. I have a lot of coach photographs borrowed from Terry that would no doubt be of interest, the only problem being, as I'm unaware of their origin, I'm slightly concerned about copyright issues. However, I'll probably risk posting a couple, then sit back to await the arrival of the solicitor's letter. Regards. Eddie.
