What a great place this was. People go on about the slag heaps and what an eyesore it was. Well i didn't see it like that,it was a great nature reserve much nicer than what it is now. Also a fab adventure playground lol x

You’re right Karen it was a great place to grow up; we had lots of open space and spent most of our time playing out over the golf links and three sisters.

used to climb the pit rooks,and get shouted at for going home with scorched shoes!!
