He's gorgeous, Aitch!
He's lovely Aitch..brown and white Collies seem to be thin on the ground don't they?..my last dog was a Border Collie..would love another dog.
What a beautiful dog. That tail looks like its ready for wagging. :)
Aitch, your dog Dusty was absolutely beautiful. He looks like he was a gentle little soul too.
When I lost Henry in'98, I vowed I wouldn't get another but then I got Meggie, another Golden Retriever. Sadly she was put to sleep six months ago, aged 14 yrs.
I know this sounds soppy but I can't express the joy and happiness that these two wonderful dogs have brought into my life.
I'd better stop because I could go on and on but I won't!!
A lovely dog, not just a dog but a friend for life.
I have had 3 such dogs in my life, human beings to me and gentle with everyone young and old.
Bella, German Shepherd, Rambo, mongrel and Rocky also a mongrel. RIP. FOREVER MISSED. And now come the tears.
Well I WILL go on. Aitch, because I met Meggie and she was a star! From the time our children, Jamie and Ashley, were young, we have had three dogs, Ziggy, Merlin and Ben.....only Ben left now, but if you see me around Polly's Pond, (today's photo-a-day), Aitch, with Our Ben, (a black Labrador), please say "Hello".
2 lovely things dog and garden xxxx
Not soppy at all, Margaret, I know just what you mean. My daughter's Rottweiler died quietly late one Saturday evening, just over a year ago, at the age of fourteen. She was a lovely dog, so gentle and loving. It took a long time for us not to "tear up" at the thought of her.
Border collie's brilliant dog and it looks a bonny dog Aitch i had two but both gone. I will try to get a picture on of them. Had a golden retriever as well another marvellous dog nice to see the pic of yours Margaret.
RAINBOW BRIDGE.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes
are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your beloved pet, so long gone from you life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.....
A dog is a friend for life I believe..now and in the afterlife.
Do you know Syd,I have :Rainbow Bridge:and I can't even type it without crying.
Syd,I have "Rainbow Bridge".I got it from Answerbank..and do you know I can't even type it out without crying.
I do miss my old dog, but as said I wouldn't have another, although both my grand kids keep asking me to, but at 74 I am well past it (for another dog I mean) something else I will comment on is in the 15 years I had him, I never had him on a lead, I never needed one, If I stopped walking so did he and would just stand there by my side till I started moving again, I think that stemmed from when he wa abandoned on the top of Parbold Hill, and was saved by a friend of my eldest daughter, she was going to have him but her husband to be said not so we did, and as I say he was with us for 15 years
i have now lost two dogs and i can tell you its heartbreaking they give you unconditional love and ask for nothing in return they where my babies and we all miss them terribly.
Syd and Maureen,I was given a copy of Rainbow Bridge by a wonderful vet, when we had him put down after several years of kidney failure. I too cry every time I read it!
Have any of you read 'The Power of the Dog' by Rudyard Kipling. This poem always makes me fill up. This is verse four and five . . . When the body that lived at your single will, With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood Is gone--wherever it goes--for good, You will discover how much you care, And will give your heart to a dog to tear.
We've sorrow enough in the natural way, When it comes to burying Christian clay. Our loves are not given, but only lent, At compound interest of cent per cent. Though it is not always the case, I believe, That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve: For, when debts are payable, right or wrong, A short-term loan is as bad as a long-- So why in--Heaven (before we are there) Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
Syd, i cried my eyes out reading your post, having had dogs as long as i can remember, but all gone to the doggie heaven
On the day I was born we had a dog, and I cant ever remeber a time when there wasnt a dog in our house, so altogether I had a dog for 65 years, and it is hard when you lose one, the one which sticks in my mind was knocked down outside of the Little Hole in the 1940s, a labrador called Blackie, I and my dad went to pick it up with a barrow which I had gotten for Christmas (homemade) I cried all the way there and back and that image of our pet will stick with me the rest of my life
Maureen, I have read somewhere recently that dogs have no soul and don't go to heaven. Can't for the life of me decide how someone came to that conclusion, but I'm 100% certain in my mind that it is wrong.
Aitch, I can imagine how much love you got from this dog and how how much you miss him. Looks like a very well tended garden too.
Derek..All Gods creatures will go to heaven..they have a heart..therefore they have a soul..if they can't go,then I'm not going either.
My last comment really does not make sense!.....We didn't have the Vet. put down! The vet, who was (and still is) a woman put down a beloved cat, when it became obvious that he was miserable, and full of pain. I cried for weeks afterward. He was the most special cat I'd ever known,a rescue and he graced our home for thirteen years.
I wouldn't worry about it Ellen,as you must have seen above,I put a comment in twice while trying to get used to a different p.c.
