The excuse the council gave for demolishing the flats was that asbestos had been found in the black prefabricated panels on the outside of the building. These panels were removed one by one, and transported away from the site to be disposed of. You can see one of the panels about to be lifted away by a crane. You can also see that the demolition worker as got a protective face mask on, because of the danger from the asbestos.
