I would bet this little oasis hasn't changed much today - I haven't seen it for ten years, but I have heard that it is full of crayfish now.
Also, It was nearly always blowing a gale from right to left when I fished there. It must have been a rare Summer's evening.

I knew the rest of Ince Park like the back of my hand as a child, but I only vaguely remember the lake, although I knew it was there; it felt a bit "lonely" and "out-of-the-way" somehow, situated right at the back. I imagine lads had no such fears, but it was different for a girl.
