This shows a photo of TOP PLACE in Ince

Well and truly gone when we were kids in the 50s, but the demolished buildings still remained and it was a haven for any one playing Hide and Seek..

i put this pic on gerry a while ago now and nobody could think of where the furness inn was but on seeing this again it says over the bridge so that tells me it must be near top lock, near the comertial over bridge do you know? or does anyone know? (help)

I've not a clue were the Furnace Inn was, but it was'nt further up the canal towards Top Lock.
Only 3 pubs up there, The Commercial Inn, The Kirkless Hall Inn and the now demolished Top Lock Inn.
I dont even think the Furnace Inn was in Hr Ince, and I've certainly never heard any of the 'old school' talking about it.

Strange.

think the Furnace Inn was on Kirkless Lane running through the works. Was once kept by Phill Nelson and had a pigeon loft for fantails
