Hi does anyone remember by Dad Harry Taylor who is pictured kneeling down at the bottom of the picture. He was a true gentleman and was loved dearly, My Dad passed away on the 10th December 2014. He will be missed so much.
Hi Ann , Sorry to hear about your dad , I remember him well, really nice chap , he was one of the best butchers ever.
Only one good butcher on this photo thats Harry Taylor, I knew all the butchers in the old market , why is Johnie tight as cramp Green not on photo .
Why was Johnie Green ( must have been a millionaire )always so miserable , it just goes to prove money alone cannot make anyone happy , too miserable to have his picture took with the rest of staff .
Must have been really easy working there with nineteen staff , I worked there when they were very busy in the sixties when they employed just about eleven staff.
I know a butcher who worked at Greens around late 50s to 60s ,he could back heel all the butchers in the Market , not on photo , a good looking blonde haired lad , he was the best ,strong as a bull .
Johnie Green Thought they where going to ask him for a donation ,
