The two photographs are of the same shop i.e. Baxters Butchers.
Thanks did not look close enough need new glasses, though the meat looks good even in black and white.
What a lucky dog to be surrounded by all that meat, I like the way the pigs heads are hung over the door, they didn't seem care about keeping their meat under refrigeration in those days.
That's right, Ron.
Later taken over by Peter Atherton, and only ceased trading on the retirement of his son (also Peter), about five years ago.
the shop is athertons you can tell by the road runing down hill if baxters it would be runing up hill
Check the other photo. It has Baxters over the door.
it is now pj,s convenience store, and all the locals love it.

Mick, Peter didn't have a son but his nephew did work for him
The family grave in St Thomas' churchyard records that two of the four Baxter sons, Arnold and Clive, were killed in the Great War, whilst a third, Osmund, succumbed to the effects of gas poisoning in 1927. The fourth, Maurice, returned.
Does anyone know the address of this shop on school lane? I'm trying to find my Great Grandads butchers shop at 67 school lane, late 1800's to early 1900's under the name of Brown.
Julian Clark - Brown's butchers was on the opposite side, approaching the top of School Lane. I think the building is now demolished.
Athertons butchers was 54 School Lane.
