This 'colourisation' always amazes me...it brings everything to life. The little girl has such a sweet smile, wonderful Keith.
That's lovely, Keith. I remember my first school photo was in black-and-white, and if parents wanted it in colour it was "coloured in" later. This would have been in the late 1950s. I remember having to go up to the teacher's desk and she wrote on a form that I had brown hair and brown eyes, but I had to tell her what the colour of the dress was that I was wearing on the photo....it was pink with white flowers. It went off somewhere to be coloured in and then was sent back to the school. Sadly it disappeared long ago when our house in Ince was demolished and we were moved.....I think a lot of things got thrown away then. We also have a photo of my husband's mother in army uniform that was "coloured in" in the same way in the 1940s.
I-think there was a paint that you could buy specially made for photographs. I know my mam tried painting one of my brother and herself. She ended up with ‘wonky’ eyebrows and a garish green dress. I still have it.
