Three of my fellow art students at Wigan Art School, based in the Technical College. We are ready for our morning “frothy coffee” at the Bodega in College Street, after our “gruelling” concentrated two and a half hour stint of life drawing.
Our model, was 17 year old Alice Orrell. What an arduous life we had in 1960!
I've included, for comparison, the Avenue as it appears today, 60 years later.

This is the doorway to what was the transport club
Many bands played there in the early sixties.

I think I knew Alice Orrell. Was she from Bryn?

Ena, I am not 100% sure as to where Alice came from exactly, but I think the Bryn area is a definite possibility. It was certainly from that side of town.
