The first of many newsagents arrive on Friday mornings to collect the Observers. Some sold the papers on the towns streets for many years.

The last Wigan Observers to be printed at Rowbottom Square with a circulation of over 47,000 copies a week.

All newspapers in print are really struggling, loss of classified advertising and Technological change. Readers are more likely to seek news on their mobile phones than buy a newspaper, sad but true.
The Wigan Observer Circulation in Dec 2021 stood at a little over 3,600.
