I have my doubts as to whether this is the present Spring View School. I don't think the building is so old. It may be St Mary's Junior/ infants' school, this building is now St Mary's Church.Consecrated after the demolition the main St Mary's Church, because of subsidance. What a great shame it was. It was a lovely church. There was no other choice but demolition. I do believe in the first place " Pearson & Knowles," the colliery owners' paid for its construction. They financed the construction of St Mary' School. there is a inscription at the front of the school, stating this, or there was.
