This photo was taken by a local newspaper because we were partaking in the first commercial course at Pemberton Girls School - that was in 1961. I am on the front row far left, next to me Anne Conroy and on the other side front row, Eileen Seddon and Christine Miller.

Hi Pat. We have chatted regarding an old friend of mine, John Johnson from Lamberhead Road. I moved to the boys school at Montrose Ave in 1960 leaving behind all the lovely girls. Does anyone remember Nadine Ellison who lived next to the school?

Hi Fred, was Nadine the girl who wore braces on her legs or am I thinking of somebody else? in any case I do know the name.

Comment by: Fred Mason on 17th January 2009 at 00:34

Yes, Pat
That was Nadine. I would love to get in touch with her again. She was a lovely girl and we all had lots of fun back then.

Most certainly, can't recall all the names but I know there was a Susan Powell in the class - a relation of yours?

I went into this commercial class in 1962. I originally went to St Marks but they let 5 girls from other schools go when we were 15. The other girls were Marion Tudge who also went to St Marks and Eileen Brown, Pam Rotherham and Kathleen Culshaw who came from Gidlow. Some of the original class were still there, they were Eileen Seddon, Christine Miller, Grace Barlow and Susan Powell. We only stayed for a year and then we had to go to Wigan Tech.
