Bamfurlong Methodist Church Walking day, 1965 on Lily Lane at Bamfurlong. In Bamfurlong today, there are two streets named, Enid Place & Dorothy Walk. These streets were named after two ladies who ran the sunday school, at the methodist church in Bamfurlong in the early 1960's. Enid was the Sunday school teacher and Dorothy used to play the piano, and help Enid look after the children. Enid died during the 1960's I don't know what happened to Dorothy.

I was born in 1961 across from Corless's shop. The street was known as "long row" and ran parallel with the railway line dont know what the actual street name was does anyone know

The young lad on the left is me. Rita Baldham and Stuart Naylor are the other two who "led up" that year.

Comment by: Rita Robinson nee Baldam. on 3rd February 2010 at 23:21

I was thirteen in this photo and not at all pleased about having to lead up, as you can probably tell by the look on my face.

Comment by: Stuart Naylor on 6th March 2010 at 19:55

Actually it was my brother Christopher Naylor who led up with Rita and Steve that year.

To WP. The street commonly known as 'the long row' was Cross Street.

Only just found WiganWorld. What a treasure trove! Left the area 46 years ago. This photo makes ‘When will I see you again?’ by the 3 degrees echo fondly in my mind.
