Some well known Standish faces on here from the Wigan and district football scene of the late 50s and the 60s. This was taken around 1958/9, unfortunately, the three lads at the front are now playing for the big football team in the sky, RIP.

Back row in the middle looks like Trevor Syner, worked with Curly, Trevor & Terry at Douglas Mill.

Ian, it does a bit yes, but it isn't, as stated, it is Jimmy Dawber. Are you sure you 'worked' with Terry,? lol.

Correct billg.

The "Curly" referred to, looks very much like John Marsden a prominent amateur player in the late 70,s and could have been his brother

Comment by: Roy on 7th December 2014 at 21:27

ABH, Curly was John's brother.

Comment by: vw on 9th December 2014 at 04:54

billg, could it have been Barry Dawber?

Comment by: billg on 9th December 2014 at 11:58

That's what was running thru my mind ? Was it Barry dawber or was it Barry wilding. I now believe we all had fun kicking ball about in backs of collingwood st.
