It could be Hunslet!

Don't think so. Hunslet had jerseys like Leeds' design but in dark green with a broad "flame" hoop and two white thinner bands. This looks just like dark with a broad white hoop.
Wigan themselves used to wear blue with a white hoop as change,and assuming the hoops are Wigan (I'm afraid I don't know, I'm not really a rugby fan) then the opponents look like a change kit from red and white (to blue and white?) - maybe Oldham, Leigh, Salford or even Saints.

Lots of "ifs" here. If no.5 is Nordgren (I thought it looked more like Jack Hilton at first glance) then there are a handful of occasions when Broome played no.4 (assuming that's his position in this match) alongside Nordgren. Here, for what it's worth are those matches, v Belle Vue Dec 10th 1949, v Liverpool Stanley Feb 18 1950, v Salford Dec 25 1950, next two seem unlikely candidates, v St Helens Ap 3rd 1953 and finally v Widnes Ap 4th 1953 - no idea which one it might be but I think I'd favour either Liverpool Stanley or Belle Vue Rangers.

Liverpool Stanley played in yellow with a blue hoop, and Liverpool City wore white with a green hoop (I used to go and watch them). It's neither of them.

Interesting point - the Italians were played on August 26th 1950 and Broome played but at no.3 centre to Silcock who was on the right wing.

Could it be Liverpool Stanley? Here's what I "found' - Liverpool Stanley later in their career (and 1950 would certainly be later) due to acute money shortages the club relied upon handouts and donations, most notably from Mrs Rosalie Kyle and clothing coupons from supporters. During this period the kit colours and designs varied drastically, from all white shirts with black trim, white shirts with black Vs, and an all blue kit. During their final season as Liverpool Stanley the club turned out in a white shirt with "Corporation Green" band around the waist, the same colours they would wear later when they became Liverpool City RLFC. Who knows??
