Allotments on Warrington Road, Newtown

This is of the allotments that were behind houses on Warrington Road. The Liverpool, Bolton, Bury railway is on top of the embankment and Skew Bridge is to the right (not on photo !) I remember these allotments being built on, and a cash and carry place was built on them. The photo is from the mid 1950's

Before these allotments used to be a large hole CLAY HOLE where clay was extracted for brick making close by, a path ran from Warrington rd under rly. bridge known as Brickcroft
