This photo shows far right top row Norman Griffiths, proprieter Western Tyre, from 1946-1969, in center Jack Lowe ( Western's Wigan Manager ) Western Tryre was originally located in Lord Street Wigan and Moved to Warrington Road in the late 1950's. The site was formerly a stone Masons and was falling down when Western took it over. martyngriff(at)gmail.com

Young lad on the front row is John Birch who started work at Western Tyres aged 15yrs so this photo must have been at Lord St. Swinley Wigan

Ken,thanks for your note, I have no photos of Lord Street but lots of Warrington Road, even a clipping taken from the local paper saying they were moving from lord street to Warrington Road. I remember as a lad the fitters setting off across the rugby or football field and over the rail embankment to go swimming at lunch time, a quich look on Google shows those ponds or flashes are still there, do you know if John Birch is still alive ? Thanks
