Heritage Services Statement

12th February 2007

We issued a Press Release today following our consultation on the new opening hours for Heritage Services for Wigan Borough. The new times are temporary until December 2007. We have listened to comments we have received and have made changes to the proposals following those comments. We will continue to review them in the light of experience.

We have had to strike a balance between meeting the requests that we have received along with the original intention of releasing staff to work on essential areas for the new vision for Wigan Heritage Services.

I would like to thank everybody who has responded to the consultation. I hope that we can work together to make a success of the new vision. We will be organising a meeting in March for partners to contribute further to discussions on the future of the Heritage Services.
