   The following were the Births and Deaths during the last four quarters in Wigan cub-district, with the annual rate to 1000 of the population, excluding a proportion of the deaths in the Union Workhouse : -

   An infant must be registered within six weeks after its birth. No fee is payable. The Registrar will, on demand, give a certificate on payment of 3d. When six weeks have elapsed the Registrar may take proceedings ; if the child be registered after three months a fee of 5s. is payable ; if over 12 months (registered by Registrar-General's authority) 10s. Notice must be given of Deaths to the District Registrar ; a certificate must be obtained to give to the minister who performs the funeral service.
