Soon to be widened for the new massive housing estate at Kirkless

Yes it needs widening a flattening out, these old fashioned hump backs have had there day.
It must be terrible having all that noise for the local residents as the heavy lorrys bump over it

Mick, I’m sure if you ask the Council nice enough, they will fill in the canal and make it into a cycle path . Walkers could stay as they are , fishermen could sing Dixie , boaters and barge owners could be given a remote model and a lake , and you could sing the sun has got his hat on as you rip up the middle . Just a suggestion . Thanks for the post Mick

I also like the barely visible details of the darkest of dark shadows and reflections, - Subtlety with a big shout.

Good photo Mick. I remember when the New Springs bridge was renovated, it was a shambles the hump was too severe and traffic gut hung up on their underframes. We had to get a bus from the Finger Post and get off at Woodfield St. then walk over the bridge and get another bus to Wigan. A right cock up.
