Mowpin Lodge Mick. Lovely photo, I don’t know who is responsible for that street light but it fits the scene admirably I think.
It’s an example of how change can be a good think if done with a little thought and consideration.
What a great winter scene this will make next time it snows.

That is so pretty, and I love the lamp. xx

If I was the mayor of Wigan I would move the George Formby statue from the Grand Arcade and have him leaning on that lamp post.

Good idea MIck - but would the residents of the lovely cottage not mind!?

Comment by: Mick on 16th July 2019 at 10:23

The new lamp posts been put up by the hotel people.

Am I right in thinking the head ranger, initials GRW lives or did live in this property.

Comment by: Mick on 16th July 2019 at 11:44

Yes Anne he is one of the ranger workmen , but I think I saw it in the papers that he had retied

Comment by: Cyril on 16th July 2019 at 12:06

No Anne, he lives in the cottage just over the mineral railway line bridge on Higher Lane/New Road.

Mick, I'm very surprised that you took the photo and didn't have your bike leant against the light column, or is it discreetly hidden.

A nice sharp photo Mick. And perhaps George would be in a safer position stood by the lamp-post than if leaning his Shuttleworth Snap around what looks like Ramsey Hairpin.

There is a fine statue of George in Douglas showing him kitted out in full TT rider regalia. Heee.

Thanks Mick and Cyril.... I haven't seen GRW since he was in his teens but was always aware of his interest in nature and such.

Comment by: Mick on 16th July 2019 at 19:00

Cyril this is where he lives because this is just over the mineral railway line bridge on Higher Lane/New road

Rightio Mick, though I must say it looks a whole lot smarter and not overgrown than it was the last time I saw it, looks a different cottage alltogether.
