I cant see the point in keeping just a small section of old cobbles at the top lock, they can be dangerous for cyclist who come flying round the corner then hit the cobbles
It would be much smoother and safer if it was all tarmaced

Good one - haven't seen that for 50 years.
Is it listed?

Love that scene. Timeless.

The cobbles/sets are very much in keeping with that lovely old cottage- they don't need to be covered with horrible tarmac- cyclists can always get off their bikes for that matter.

What a lovely change from red bricked houses..and yes I agree, let folk get off their bikes,I used to ride my bike a lot (I still have it) and wouldn't dream of trying to ride over cobbles, what's simpler than just getting off and pushing it a few yards..keep Tarmac for main roads..it isn't important here.

Great scene.I agree that the cobbles/setts (not sets) are more in keeping with the area. I wonder how or why the stone cottage acquired a red brick chimney.
