The top of Haigh seems to be a favorite place for P-O-D. There used to be a Blacksmiths Smithy through that archway, took the pony there for shoeing a few times. |

Giovanni, the paint is called Post Office Red. |
|
Comment by irene roberts on 23rd January 2015 at 13:10 |
Garry, all post-BOXES are red. Post OFFICES merely have a red sign over the door. Type Wigan Post Office into Google Images and have a look at our lovely Town Post-Office, built of a very pleasing shade of brick with white window-frames and a wooden door. |

Comment by Garry on 23rd January 2015 at 14:14 |
Post offices are Red, Post Office Vans are Red, Post Office HGVs are Red, Post office Post Boxes are Red.
It's the Groups Livery...And the paint's called POST OFFICE RED. |

Comment by Neil Cain on 23rd January 2015 at 14:56 |
Ah that's where I go wrong I thought a red light meant Post Office. Thought those lasses were a bit under dressed. |

Paint code for Post Office Red-
BS381-538. |

Comment by Garry on 23rd January 2015 at 19:04 |
Giovanni, this is Wigan in the UK, not Italy, anyway Rosso red is a different shade than Post Office red.
The code for Rosso red is D40000. |

Garry, contrary to your apparent belief, I am a woman of some intelligence. Thankyou for your information but I was well aware of Post Office Red Paint, and of the colour of post-boxes, phone-boxes and Postman Pat's van, not to mention his helicopter; I merely pointed out that Post Offices have a red sign outside, but the building and its doors and windows are not necessarily painted red. There is one on Wigan Lane that is green......door, window-frames, shutters and all, but the little red sign tells people it is a Post Office. Thankyou so much for the code for Post Office Red Paint; I'm sure that will come in handy if ever I feel like painting the town red. |

Garry wrong again regarding post office red paint, just brand names, pillar box red, post office red etc, the royal mail do use a specific B.S. colour for the boxes though, http://www.news.postboxesukltd.co.uk/tag/ral-pillar-box-red |

With all this about Post Offices, I have forgotten to say how much I like the photo! Where are the railings, Mick? At first I thought they must be near The Balcarres or that lovely little school on Copperas Lane, but now I think it may be the church gate you were standing behind. |

Ok, everyone seems to be ganging up on me again. I may have POSTED the wrong intention and shown my true COLOURS. But I was just trying to educate some posters that's all.
It's a subject I knew about in my younger days. I love everyone on here really, there's some clever and interesting people who I admire with affection. I know we don't know each other personally, but we all have one thing in common, we all love WW and are a great team together.
Garry x. |

No harm done and no offence!
Grazie Garry for your humility. |

Do we really need the likes of Garry on here, he'll be at it again tomorrow. If we all did a vote, he'd be voted out. |

Comment by Alex on 24th January 2015 at 12:02 |
See the some of the ladies have give in to Gary, AGAIN. |
|
Comment by irene roberts on 24th January 2015 at 13:04 |
I don't think I gave in....I certainly put him straight on the fact that I am not going to be spoken down to.....if anyone gave in it was Garry, and I hope I am fair-minded enough to accept, if not an apology, his acknowledgement that he spoke without really thinking. I don't think Garry is a bad person, and yes, he WILL do it again, but I think he has a sense of humour under all that bluntness. |
|
Comment by Ann on 24th January 2015 at 14:14 |
What has Garry supposed to have done? I don't think he's spoken down to anyone. Can we not assume Garry could be absolutely spot on with his comments. |
|
Comment by GPO on 24th January 2015 at 14:21 |
Do what again...put him straight...
can't see nowt wrong with Gary's predictions only that he is spot on. |

Comment by Julie on 24th January 2015 at 16:47 |
Alan, vote Garry out? Absolutely outrageous!! Garry hugely enriches this forum and long may he tell it as he sees it. Hope you will continue Garry. |

Comment by Dave on 24th January 2015 at 17:36 |
Vote Garry out? if it weren't for him their'ed be less comments. You don't seriously want him out..... He brings the site to life...it's never dull when he's about! |

Comment by Alan on 24th January 2015 at 18:09 |
Are we looking at the same forum, Julie? He enriches WW...how do you come up with that assumption? |
