It may be somewhat stupid, but a saying comes to mind. Everything changes yet everything stays the same. I may not be 100% on that.

I bagan my animal career up The Wiend in 1955 when I got the job of Saturday boy at Tom Whalley's Pet Shop...lots of happy memories.

Ha ha, I had to do a double take on that Ferg, he'll be right miffed if he sees the photo.

I and I'm sure many others used to love browsing the secondhand bookstore with the many rooms on different levels that was in the Wiend, you could literally lose track of time and spend hours in there.

peter The new Wigan Life Centre is up there. There is a nice restaurant. When they were digging out for the new Life Centre they found Roman remains and they tarmaced over them. When you think, that would have been the perfect position for the Romans before the Dougie was re routed and so high up so they could see who was coming.

The seats a bit low on the right hand bike!thought...thats a little bike for a big fella ,then realised the third leg belonged to someone else.! great picture...I thought the same about the bookies and the bank together derek !

THat betting shop used to be a bank.. "Martins" ;o)

That type of bike is designed to be used - almost exclusively - for riding on pavements.

My great grandfather samuel willan had a barbers shop in the wiend n the early 1900.s. Wonder if any descendants are still living in wigan?
