Nice pic..., can I send pics of birds in the garden here in Southport now?

Comment by: Clarky on 9th July 2012 at 09:15

I think there has to be a Wigan connection Rev David Long, Southport is Merseyside.

Parbold Church has a Wigan post code WN8 7TG but is in Lanchashire these days. I'm not sure if Parbold was part of Wigan at one time. Nice photo David.

Hello ! David, Wonder if your related to a David Thomas who was a very good golfer, he was born in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Rev David. Have you retired to Southport then? If you travel from Southport to Wigan Wallgate by train make sure it`s not a stopper as there are 8 stations between !! Any news re St.Catherine`s?

Parbold was part of Wigan Rural District up to 1974. (Google)

Photo it look blurred to me but it taken in one of better area,s of Wigan. No Council estates give it better class of area to bring up children who not be workshy or on sick claiming benefits when they leave school most go to university and not got Pregnant piercings or daft coloured hair for them get noticed.

You can tell theres no council housers about theirs no rubbish are dog muck about.

Comment by: wigan man on 9th July 2012 at 14:26

Parbold is not is Wigan Mick, it's in west lancashire. http://www.parbold.info/

Parbold according to national statistics has a 49% unemployment rate so very high.

Times are hard in this country and jobs are rare! Just because someone has grown up in social housing does not make them less likely to go to university than a person brought up in private housing. I do not understand why Mick is allowed to post such prejudice comments around this site with no moderation!!!!

there are 18 social/council houses in Parbold all not a stones throw away from this location!

Put `parbold` in search box above this photo and you`ll be surprised.

Lovely tranquil scene including the duck.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 9th July 2012 at 15:39

Hadn`t seen the duck at bottom, Dave! There`s another duck just behind the narrowboat on right!

Its because its not me more than likely its YOU.

Agreed, Wigan Man; I think that the "if suitable" remark should extend to prejudicial, as well as abusive language and racism.

Comment by: David Fairclough on 10th July 2012 at 02:50

I also agree with Wigan Man, Micks comment are rude and prejudical and should not be on this forum

Mick, in my working life I have known people who left school at 14 who could do anything without any problem or fuss, I have also seen graduates who seriously could not read or write properly and couldn't even be bothered coming to work one half of the time. Believe me, a degree or university education is not necessarily a measure of excellence these days!
