What remains of the Victoria Club in Worsley Mesnes by Ian Spencer (Canon EOS 450D)
I was told the original Vic club was situated right near to where Volkswagen garage is now just over Seven Stars bridge, they had to relocate the club and if they relocated to over a mile away by road they would qualify for a grant to rebuild the club.

Ah...memories of the old Victoria Ward Labour Club in Sharp Stret, Wigan. They arranged bus trips to Southport for us kids. My grandad was the president of the club at the time. Halcyon days!

A sign of the times!.I counted twenty five clubs that have closed in recent times, this figure just from the top of my head ,and the number of public houses must run into hundreds. The fashion in entertainment has
changed so much in the last few years,
Barbequs ,eating out ,the resurgent of the cinema, home entertainment systems, together with the absolute greed of the brewerys have all conspired to the demise
of the "local"
