A nice natural shot of the pub seen by everybody who enter Wigan from the A49 north.

A beautiful pub, though I haven't been in it since the days of George and Mary Waterhouse. Let's hope it survives!

Nice picture.Nice spring flowers.

....Had hoped for something a little more "green" for Earth Day--or don't you celebrate Earth Day on the eastern shores of the "pond"?

Lovely Thomas, Why is the Hospitl A&E sign on the lamp post in red when they were always blue.

Comment by: burtspieeater on 22nd April 2012 at 09:14

Great photo. The Red hospital sign indicates it has an "Accident and Emergencies" department.

Garry all out street signs are colour coded, the normal ones are green and white and the motorways are blue and white.

So that way if you see big directional sign in green and white and just one little square of blue with a number in it you know that the route towards a motorway.

The red on the hospital sign means blood.

Where on Wigan World can i find the old photograph of the 'Cherries' and the discussion that ensued as to whether or not it is the same building today as it was yesteryear?
