Michael Marks of Marks and Spencer fame , lived in Wigan sometime after 1894 ,after living in Leeds and before moving to Manchester. Has anybody got any infromation as to where in Wigan he lived.
M&S have along history in Wigan, starting with a bazaar in Makinsons Arcade.

How efficient are Wigan council.
It was only a few weeks ago that the dead trees where removed now a few weeks later nice new ones are going in.

Well...Wigan doesn't look to have changed much from that angle. Is the road pedestrianised now ? They look as if they are planting the trees in what was the road, remember the road as being very wide back in the early 50's

Helen - the road is now pedestrianised however you can drive up there after 4pm (it's gated)
